Your Care Team

Dr. Tracy Sands
Dr. Sands' Bio
Dr. Sands attended the University of Delaware, where she met her husband (a fellow Blue Hen), and then continued to the VMRCVM vet school at Virginia Tech. Go Hokies! Working in several different types of veterinary practices as an associate, Dr. Sands developed a passion to make the veterinary experience more comfortable for pets and owners alike, so she became Fear Free certified and founded Healing Paws Veterinary Care. With the growth of that practice, she found that she enjoyed developing a team of individuals who are extremely dedicated to serving clients and their pets and wanted to offer even more to the Carlisle area. This led to the design process of our permanent veterinary care and boarding facility intended to keep patients and their owners as relaxed as possible whether they are receiving medical care or enjoying the resort. Developing and leading an amazing team of veterinary support staff is so exciting to Dr. Sands that she travels speaking to other veterinarians about promoting positive work environments and creating teams that work!
Dr. Sands and her husband have a daughter and son and enjoy raising them amidst the animals they love on a small hobby sheep farm. As a member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners, you know that she has several cats and of course, dogs, sheep, and a few chickens. When on road trips with her family, Dr. Sands enjoys knitting, photography and listening to podcasts. In fact, Dr. Sands and our Client Care Specialist Alec, co-host a podcast called Vet Med After Hours that sheds light on the lives of amazing individuals in all roles in veterinary medicine.

Amanda H.
Amanda's Bio
When she is not at Healing Paws, Amanda spends time with her dog (Whistly), and cats (Batman and Smokey). Whistly was the second Seeing Eye puppy she raised who came back to live with Amanda as a pet when she went into early retirement. Soon, she will welcome her seventh Seeing Eye puppy (Oofie), back into her family as well. Her other hobbies include being a 4-H Puppy Development Leader for Seeing Eye puppies and being involved in other 4-H programs as well. She serves on the local 4-H board of directors of Adams County and works closely with fundraising, public relations, and getting new programs up and running, such as a veterinary science program for kids. 4-H is a program close to Amanda’s heart, and she is happy to give kids the opportunity to become more involved with animals and their community as she compassionately role models herself.
