Dr. Tracy Sands
Dr. Sands' Bio
Dr. Sands attended the University of Delaware, where she met her husband (a fellow Blue Hen), and then continued to the VMRCVM vet school at Virginia Tech. Go Hokies! Working in several different types of veterinary practices as an associate, Dr. Sands developed a passion to make the veterinary experience more comfortable for pets and owners alike, so she became Fear Free certified and founded Healing Paws Veterinary Care. With the growth of that practice, she found that she enjoyed developing a team of individuals who are extremely dedicated to serving clients and their pets and wanted to offer even more to the Carlisle area. This led to the design process of our permanent veterinary care and boarding facility intended to keep patients and their owners as relaxed as possible whether they are receiving medical care or enjoying the resort. Developing and leading an amazing team of veterinary support staff is so exciting to Dr. Sands that she travels speaking to other veterinarians about promoting positive work environments and creating teams that work!
Dr. Sands and her husband have a daughter and son and enjoy raising them amidst the animals they love on a small hobby sheep farm. As a member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners, you know that she has several cats and of course, dogs, sheep, and a few chickens. When on road trips with her family, Dr. Sands enjoys knitting, photography and listening to podcasts. In fact, Dr. Sands and our Client Care Specialist Alec, co-host a podcast called Vet Med After Hours that sheds light on the lives of amazing individuals in all roles in veterinary medicine.

Dr. Stacey Hartman
Dr. Hartman's Bio
Dr. Hartman was born in Philly (look out, she is an avid Eagles fan!) but grew up in Cumberland County – so she had to return as she and her husband love the farm fresh dining, winery, and golfing experiences available in our beautiful countryside. Dr. Hartman is well rounded, to say the least – she has run a half-marathon, plays the piano and french horn is a “yogi” and has a flair for home improvement.
You will find that Dr. Hartman treats each of your pets as an individual but also as one of her own! She and her husband have 3 kitties and 3 dogs that run their household so you can be sure that your pets will be spoiled too!
An avid cat lover, Alec and his girlfriend have a family of 4 cats who show up on their social media pages regularly. When not spoiling “Kitten” or his other cats, Alec co-hosts the podcast Vet Med After Hours with Dr. Sands and is a member of the Uncharted Veterinary Community that promotes positivity in veterinary medicine. He also competes on a professional level in the world of disc golf and loves pretty much all sports. Alec brings laughter and joy to the team at Healing Paws as our wellness coach – spreading gratitude and self-care.
When Brandi is not busy caring for your pets at Healing Paws, you can find her outdoors hunting and fishing. She’s known for having a great shot!
When she is not at Healing Paws, Amanda spends time with her dog (Whistly), and cats (Batman and Smokey). Whistly was the second Seeing Eye puppy she raised who came back to live with Amanda as a pet when she went into early retirement. Soon, she will welcome her seventh Seeing Eye puppy (Oofie), back into her family as well. Her other hobbies include being a 4-H Puppy Development Leader for Seeing Eye puppies and being involved in other 4-H programs as well. She serves on the local 4-H board of directors of Adams County and works closely with fundraising, public relations, and getting new programs up and running, such as a veterinary science program for kids. 4-H is a program close to Amanda’s heart, and she is happy to give kids the opportunity to become more involved with animals and their community as she compassionately role models herself.
Claire was born in China and has moved many times but considers Carlisle her home. Her family has a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel (Max), as well as two cats (Hugo and Twinkle). Claire also has a betta fish, Caliban. While she loves all of them, Hugo is Claire’s favorite pet. She helped pick him out when she was four years old, and he spends every night curled up by her neck. In the future, she would love to own and train a therapy dog to provide comfort and support to those who need it. When she is not at Healing Paws, Claire is an avid writer and photographer. She has won several awards for her work and has opened up her own photography business. She loves how both of her passions work together to tell as story, and the pets at Healing Paws are some of her favorite subjects to photograph. Claire also loves to keep busy with cooking, calligraphy, and traveling.
