Meet The Team
Dr. Tracy Sands
Dr. Sands grew up on a hobby sheep farm in Bedford County, Pennsylvania with many pets. Her love of animals and desire to help people persisted, and her passion has taken her all the way to her current position as full-time Veterinarian and Owner of Healing Paws Veterinary Care!
Tracy attended the University of Delaware, where she met her husband, and then continued to the Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech. Dr. Sands worked in several different types of veterinary practices as an associate, and based on her desire to make the veterinary experience more comfortable for pets and owners alike, she chose to branch out and open her mobile practice, Healing Paws Veterinary Care. With the growth of that practice, she found that she enjoyed developing a team of individuals who are extremely dedicated to serving clients and their pets and wanted to offer even more to the Carlisle area. This led to the design process of our permanent veterinary care and boarding facility. Dr. Sands is passionate about becoming a certified Fear Free practice and is a member of the American Association of Feline Practitioners.
At home, Dr. Sands lives with her husband, a school administrator who also shoulders most of the work on their farm, and their young son and daughter. The family has two cats, three dogs, two llamas, three peacocks, chickens and about 30 wool sheep. When time allows between her family, pets, and work, Dr. Sands like knitting, sheep showing, and dabbling in photography.
Veterinary Nurse, Surgical Assistant
Tasha credits her mother for imparting an intense passion for animals early on in life. Ever since she was little, Tasha has wanted to give something back to the pets who gave her so much unconditional loyalty and love. She gets to do just that as a member of the Healing Paws Veterinary Care team!
A native of central Pennsylvania, Tasha attended Delaware Valley College to receive her Bachelor’s degree in small-animal science. After graduation, she secured a position at a large pet hospital, where she was able to learn the ins and outs of a veterinary clinic. Eight years later, she relocated and started at another hospital before taking time off to raise her young son. Now, Tasha is thrilled to be working here at Healing Paws Veterinary Care! She especially enjoys giving a pet quality one-on-one care in the comfort of their own home, and finds farm-animal calls to be especially rewarding.
Tasha, her husband, and their son share their home with their two rescued dogs, Bugglet and Sadie. When she isn’t spending time with her family or caring for pets here at the clinic, Tasha enjoys being outdoors, attending at least one Philadelphia Phillies game per year, visiting the beach, and going to reptile exhibits and shows.
Veterinary Nurse, Executive Assistant
Hilary is originally from Spring, Texas, where she grew up riding horses and raising market lambs with the Future Farmers of America organization. For her, animal care is a natural and essential part of life! She’s proud to continue her veterinary journey as part of the Healing Paws Veterinary Care family.
After earning her degree in animal science with an emphasis in equine studies, Hilary moved to Germany in 2013 for her husband’s military career. She was thrilled to accept a position as a Veterinary Technician there and jumpstart her career in private practice. Recently, the couple moved back to the United States and settled here in Carlisle. Hilary joined the Healing Paws Veterinary Care team shortly afterward as a Veterinary Technician and Executive Assistant—she loves learning new things every day, and is especially passionate about passing on her knowledge to the area’s pet owners.
At home, Hilary and her husband live with two dogs of their own: Chandler, a German Shepherd that they’ve had since puppyhood; and a Boxer mix named Buddy with a Scooby-Doo like personality. When she’s not caring for the area’s pets or spending time with her own four-legged companions, Hilary can be found volunteering with nonprofits or horseback riding. She even used to volunteer at an equine therapy facility in Georgia, where she was able to get even the most distrustful horses to become comfortable with humans.
Client Care Specialist
Alec is new to our clinic but not to the area, as he’s originally from Carlisle, Pennsylvania! He gravitated to Healing Paws Veterinary Care because of their love and passion for pet care. Alec has quickly fallen in love with the atmosphere and dedication of his associates, the pets, and their pet parents in the area.
Alec, in need of a job while attending West Chester University, stumbled upon the veterinary field and has been in love with it ever since. Alec has two beautiful cats, Sydney who he rescued from the mean streets of Philadelphia, and a more recent rescue, “Kitten”, who was rescued a year ago. You can usually find Alec involved in anything competitive, being in the great outdoors, or attend the local festivals. He recently picked up Disc Golf as a hobby and has already found himself playing in a few tournaments.
Alec’s favorite part of working in the veterinary field is assisting all the pets and their families. Whether it’s with a friendly voice and some much-needed information over the phone, or being like a member of the family helping them in their home. Alec believes that if you love what you do you never work a day in your life and he brings that with him to work every day. He’s been an excellent addition to our close-knit team.

Animals have always gravitated towards Brandi. A Carlisle native, Brandi grew up with a variety of pets but has been most inspired by her very own dog, Carli. Carli is described as being too smart for her own good! The now senior Labrador Retriever is the first dog that Brandi took the reins in training. Watching Carli and other animals learn new things is an exciting part of the animal care profession to her.
When Brandi is not busy caring for your pets at Healing Paws, you can find her outdoors hunting and fishing. She’s known for having a great shot!
